NetProcessor 9026 Optimizer/Demux
The Thomson NetProcessor 9026 Optimizer and Demux are capable of minimizing the headend-to-transmitter satellite link costs of single-frequency digital terrestrial TV networks (which can range between $1 to 4 million per transponder per year). The NetProcessor 9026 provides more services and customization, including insertion of local and regional channels (news, sports, advertising, etc.) over regionalized networks.
The NetProcessor 9026 Optimizer is located at the digital terrestrial television (DTTV) headend and processes single-frequency network (SFN)-ready transport streams by handling the national service and other transport streams containing the regional services. The resulting transport stream contains all national and regional services ready for demux within SFN constraints. Military-grade SmartCrypt scrambling is a complementary process to protect the content on the satellite link. The resulting transport stream is modulated using DVB-S2 and sent to the satellite.
The NetProcessor 9026 Demux is located at the DTTV transmitter site and receives the transport stream on the DVB-S2 interface, descrambles it, and performs the filtering and synchronization for up to four different transports streams delivered to the modulator over ASI interfaces.
